SGS Consulting has been working in the field of education for many years offering services focused on monitoring and evaluation in the field. SGS has been a partner to KST in the Free State District Whole School Development (DWSD) programme since its inception in 2013 (over eight years). It formed part of KST, bringing together partners that included the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation (CRF), Kagiso Trust and the FirstRand Empowerment Foundation (FREF), in partnership with the Free State Department of Education (FSDoE) in school improvement processes spanning two districts and over 300 schools, costing over R500 million. The value offerings of SGS include project management, concept development, monitoring and evaluation, and documentation of processes that relate to teacher development, instructional leadership, ICT processes in education, school infrastructure, direct learner support, empowerment and transformation processes, and capacity building of district officials. SGS also managed a five-year longitudinal study of learners and schools in the Fezile Dabi and Motheo districts.

The same processes have been extended to the Anglo-American South Africa (AASA) school improvement programme involving 108 schools in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape. SGS is project managing the AASA programme on behalf of KST.
SGS Consulting has completed several evaluation processes for clients including three assessment processes for the Maths Centre; Adopt-A-School Foundation of the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, assessing interventions and efforts at improving schooling in our country.
