Shaun Samuels

Shaun Samuels is an advocate for social change, equality, and justice in the African continent. He holds a Social Science degree with a post-graduate qualification in adult education from the University of Cape Town.  With a background in the NGO sector, he has worked extensively in government, and as a development management consultant for over 20 years. His areas of specialisation include organizational development, change management, strategy development, monitoring and evaluation, grant-making, and other. He works collaboratively with regional NGOs, the United Nations, and Regional Economic Communities, such as SADC and SADCPF, to drive positive change in the African continent. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in numerous transformation programs within the South African government over the past fifteen years. Shaun is the founder of SGS, established in 2002, that focuses on social justice, community philanthropy, education, research and organisational development services.  Shaun was instrumental in establishing and managing the Constitutionalism Fund in South Africa, having managed the fund for six years, before stepping down in 2021. Beyond his consultancy work, Shaun served as the founding trustee of the Other Foundation, a regional grant maker and field builder for the LGBTQI+ sector in Southern Africa and is a Council member at St Peter’s Prep School.
